Our client

Founded in 2013, iyzico has become a trusted name in the fintech industry, offering seamless payment solutions to businesses and consumers alike. Known for its cutting-edge technology and customer-first approach, iyzico continuously seeks to strengthen its team with talented individuals who share its vision for innovation and inclusivity.

Challenge

Despite the growing demand for front-end developers, women remain underrepresented in tech roles. iyzico recognized this gap and sought to:

  1. Encourage Women in Tech: Provide initial encouragement and guidance to women aspiring to enter the tech industry.
  2. Build a Diverse Team: Strengthen their team with talented women developers who bring fresh perspectives and skills.

Patika.dev was tasked with designing a program that would not only train women in front-end development but also create a pathway for them to join iyzico’s team.

Our approach

Practicum is a model of project-based learning and cohort-based hiring, where companies provide and assess candidates’ skills before they make hiring decisions. The iyzico Front-end Practicum will last for seven weeks, where participants will take online courses on Patika.dev learning platform and build projects. It covers the core technical skills required to be a junior developer as well as soft skills such as working remotely with others in harmony, self-learning, peer reviews and giving and receiving feedback.

The practicum will not only train women developer candidates, but will also give an opportunity to get hired in cohorts by iyzico. We are super excited to provide this opportunity to women in tech!

Results and feedback

The program achieved remarkable outcomes:

  1. High Completion Rate:
    • 60% of participants completed all activities and submitted their final projects (compared to the average online course completion rate of less than 5%).
  2. Time Investment:
    • Each learner spent an average of 120 hours on online content, project building, and office hours.
  3. Hiring Success:
    • Within two weeks of graduation, 25% of participants were already hired by several tech companies.
    • iyzico hired three amazing female developers from the program.
    • We expect 80%+ of graduates to find tech jobs within the next few months.
  4. Participant Feedback:

“Learning together was amazing! With this group motivation and my self-belief, even if I had a non-computer-related background, I developed my final project to the best of my ability. Ultimately, I got a job offer from iyzico! Now I am extremely happy that there is a new and exciting journey ahead for me.”

  1. iyzico’s Perspective:

“We’re proud to see many young women having such a great learning opportunity to directly benefit their careers. During the program, they received both social and technical support from their peers and Patika.dev mentors. Although we started the program with the intention of supporting women and not necessarily hiring ourselves, we were pleasantly happy to hire three bright women from the Practicum - it’s super exciting for us to have a more diverse team!”
